There will be a wedding ceremony prior to ours that starts at 1:00 with pictures at 2:15. Please be aware that our wedding may not start until 3:00, so there is no reason to arrive prior to 2:45 pm.

The reception begins at 4 pm right next door in Assis Hall in the building to your left as you exit the church, and goes to 8 pm. A chart inside the entrance displays the table seating assignments. The reception includes refreshments, a buffet dinner, dessert, dancing, and probably lots of talking.

Paul here. I'll let Deb answer if she wants. For my part, I was in chapel one day after we had been dating for a while and I asked God if I should ask her to marry me. I heard quite clearly in my head a voice that was not mine say, "It is not good for man to be alone." I was a little freaked out by the immediate and wholly appropriate response but took it as confirmation that I shouldn't waste any more time but take the next steps. The reason I considered the question in the first place was the same reason I asked my late wife Darlene to marry me 50 years ago. I t seemed wrong to say goodnight at the door before driving home alone. We were supposed to be together.

We have chosen the "Celebration of Matrimony Without Mass," aka a "Wedding outside of Mass." This retains the sacramental nature of our covenant with God while taking into consideration the diversity of beliefs of all present as they pertain to the Lord's Supper. Like a Wedding Mass, we begin with the Introductory Rite with a welcome, procession with entrance hymn and the Collect. This is the first prayer the priest addresses to God on behalf of the entire assembly that relates to the occasion. We stand for the entrance and at this point sit for what is known as the Liturgy of the Word, in simple English, selections of sacred scripture. We sit for the Old Testament, Psalm and New Testament letter writings. We stand for the Gospel, the Good News after which we sit for a brief sermon. Next is the Celebration of Matrimony in which we answer the hard questions (not really that hard for us) and the priest or deacon blesses the rings and our union. Universal prayers follow and that concludes this part of the liturgy, We are officially married. Most of the Liturgy of the Eucharist is omitted. At this point we share in the recitation of the Our Father prayer and a Sign of Peace. The conclusion of the celebration follows with a final blessing and a processional hymn. The priest and/or deacon leave(s) followed by the bride and groom. At the conclusion of the recessional hymn all may follow.
